Italy Day 3 - Firenze/Pisa

We had a great stay in Bologna and our university dorm was right next to the first University in the western world, started in 1066.

Next we arrived in Firenze! (Florence). Home of the renaissance; birthplace of our modern world. Construction began on the cathedral before anyone knew how to make a dome on the top. Fortunately, they figured it out, and now we have domes all over.

(top) Michelangelo's David. (bottom) Ray's David. (I'm pretty sure that's where they got "Blue Steel")

Ponte Vecchio

The little mermaid.

They say if you rub the boar's nose it will ensure your return to Florence.
If that's true then dad and I are definitely coming back. I'm not sure about mom.

He's so full of it.

They say Firenze has the best gelato in Italy. ..I'm unconvinced. My favorite is still from Catanzaro.

Florence is so full of art that the first case of "Stendhal Syndrome" was diagnosed here. It is when someone become so overwhelmed by art that they are put into a trance.

A Taiwanese couple that came all the way here for their wedding photos.

(Don't look at this photo too long - you might get overwhelmed)

Made it to Pisa!

"Hands-free" luggage

We were amazed by the Piazza dei miracoli. The tower was a lot bigger and more impressive than we had expected.

Mom filling up water while I was getting my perfect leaning tower shot.

Another place where it's hard to get your photos timed right. Mom is yelling so that people will stay out of the photo! (unfortunately it didn't work).

Finishing off the day right! We had a nice meal before going back to our hotel and to bed.
